Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed extreme concern over the decision of the so-called court of the occupied Tskhinvali in regard to the 12-year sentence delivered in regard to a Georgian citizen. According to the statement spread by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it is a provocative decision to send Gakheladze to prison.
“The unlawful ruling represents the destructive plan of the Russian Federation which aims at destabilization in Georgia, despite the fact that Moscow continues making statements about its wish to establish a dialogue and cooperation,” the statement says.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia calls on the Russian Federation to stop violating human rights on the Georgian occupied territories. It also calls on Russia to respect Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and fulfil its international obligations.
The MFA has applied to the international partners to make a corresponding assessment of the Russia’s occupation regime’s another provocation and take effective measures in order to release the illegally detained citizen of Georgia.
