Saakashvili’s statements do not help us develop partnership — Ambassador of Ukraine

«Unfortunately, the calls of the former President of Georgia do not help us to build an atmosphere of trust between our countries and to develop bilateral relations and strategic partnership,» — said the Ambassador of Ukraine to Georgia Igor Dolgov after a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

According to the ambassador, the call for disobedience and illegal actions does not help the Georgian-Ukrainian bilateral relations.

«Unfortunately, I once again have to comment on the statements made by those who are not directly involved in the Georgian-Ukrainian bilateral relations. Unfortunately, the calls of the former President of Georgia do not help us to build an atmosphere of trust between our countries and to develop bilateral relations and strategic partnerships.

Naturally, as a particular person, he has the right to express himself. However, now that the situation with the parliament and the parliamentary elections has been more or less settled and the focus is on other, more important issues, as Georgia and Ukraine, along with other countries, are fighting the Covand pandemic, such calls for disobedience and illegal demonstrations will not really help. It will not help the Georgian people, their unity and Georgian-Ukrainian bilateral relations.

Therefore, I hope that one particular opinion of one particular person, a citizen of Ukraine and a former citizen of Georgia will not damage our friendship and the desire of our peoples to become closer. We need a strong and united Georgia as a strategic partner. «It is our common interest and aspiration to be strong and reliable for each other,» Igor Dolgov said.
