Hazelnut exports increased

Hazelnut exports increased. According to GTNews, the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture reported that 16.5 thousand tons of hazelnuts were exported in the period from August 1, 2020 to February 21, 2021, at a cost of 86.1 million USD.

The volume of hazelnut exports during the mentioned period is 5.7 thousand tons (53%), while the export value is 30.7 million USD (55%) higher than the figures of the same period 2019/2020.

Georgian hazelnuts are mainly exported to EU markets, namely Germany (4,342 tons), Italy (3,927 tons), Czech Republic (804 tons), Spain (489 tons), Lithuania (486 tons), France (423 tons), Poland (385 tonnes), Bulgaria (367 tonnes), Latvia (128 tonnes), Greece (97 tonnes), Estonia (88 tonnes), Slovakia (86 tonnes), Luxembourg (84 tonnes), Belgium (44 tonnes) and Austria ( 22 tons).

Georgian hazelnuts are also exported to countries such as Armenia (930 tons), Russia (799 tons), Turkey (530), Belarus (543 tons), Ukraine (354 tons), Brazil (186 tons), Algeria (185 tons), Saudi Arabia (223 tonnes), Canada (195 tonnes), Switzerland (131 tonnes), Mexico (67 tonnes), Uzbekistan (80 tonnes), Syria (50 tonnes), United Arab Emirates (56 tonnes), Azerbaijan (44 tonnes), Jordan (38 tons), Great Britain (35 tons), Israel (32 tons), Iraq (24 tons), USA (19 tons) and others.
