The provocative actions of the Russian occupation forces in the occupied territories of Georgia and the dire humanitarian situation, including the detention of citizens living near the occupation line, focused on the meeting between the Prime Minister of Georgia Gakharia and the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde.
The meeting focused on the arrest of Zaza Gakheladze, a Georgian citizen, by the Russian occupation forces and the imposition of illegal detention on him by the Tskhinvali de facto court.
Talks focused on the effective functioning and importance of the Geneva International Negotiations and Incident Prevention and Response Formats. Ann Linde reaffirmed the OSCE’s support for Georgia in resolving the conflict and strengthening its institutions.
Giorgi Gakharia noted that the Georgian government is ready to continue close cooperation with the Kingdom of Sweden, including during the OSCE chairmanship, one of the main priorities of which is the Swedish side to resolve conflicts in the OSCE region.
