Ioseb Tkemaladze was elected President of the Georgian Rugby Union. The elections started at 12 o’clock in Didube Exhibition Complex «Expo Georgia» and took place amid controversy and tension between the parties.
Ioseb Tkemaladze had one registered candidate to be elected to the congress, which was protested by the supporters of Irakli Abuseridze, who was elected on December 30, and who tried to disrupt the illegitimate elections in their opinion.
Law enforcers were mobilized on the territory of «Expo Georgia». Nevertheless, physical confrontation between the parties still ensued. Veteran rugby players were injured.
Ioseb Tkemaladze states that he is going to take action as soon as the passion subsides. «We need timely updating and getting things done,» he said.
